There are so many manufacturers and distributors of contact lenses who have a website and a shopping facility, that we are tempted to buy online and get rid of the hassle of going to shopping in big, crowded stores. However, somebody asked me if it is safe to order contact lenses online, from 1800 Contacts or similar suppliers.
Here I have to make it more precise: if you want to order fashion contact lenses, which have to power of refraction, then it is OK and safe, be it that you order from 1-800 Contacts, LensWorld or from elsewhere. If you are lucky, you may even find a discount coupon. I'm sure I've seen a few promotional websites offering coupon codes for 1800Contacts.
When you receive your package, check it thoroughly to see if it is properly sealed and that the contacts are intact. Usually contact lenses come in clear package, so a visual inspection is possible even before opening it. If you notice anything that may be wrong, most merchants give you the possibility to return the product. They will send you a new one without extra costs from your side.
In case your eye contacts are medical, with prescription, you should consult your eye specialist before ordering anything. Do not follow recommendations from friends and do not attempt to decide by yourself what kind of visual correction you need.
